Well, it's safe to say that Bruce Jenner's mom, Esther Jenner, is not a fan of his estranged wife Kris Jenner. In an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail, the former Olympian's 88-year-old mom let loose her thoughts on Kris being a "controlling monster" and how she doesn't approve of Bruce's rumored womanly transformation.
"I have to be truthful. One thing I'm not, I'm not a phony, and I get in a lot of trouble sometimes for saying it like it is," Bruce's mom reportedly began the no-holds-barred interview, which took place in her Idaho home. When asked by the Daily Mail if Kris is a "controlling monster," Esther replied: "That's accurate. I don't know why she is. I don't think she treated anybody very well. She could insult you with a big smile on her face. What do you do with a person like that? You're going to avoid them if possible. She was backstabbing as far as my grandchildren were concerned, and that is something I can't stand," Esther added of her son's wife of 23 years. "She's domineering — it's do it her way, or there's no way. I had very little to do with Kris. I stayed away from her as much as I could."
Clearly open to vocalizing her opinions, Esther said that her son is also happy to not be around the momager. "He is ecstatically happy right now," she said when asked how Bruce is coping with the ongoing divorce. "When I talk to him, I can hear it in his voice…Since he has got his freedom he has his own checkbook and doesn't have to ask Kris for money which he's had to do, he couldn't even buy one of his little helicopters without asking her for money," she shared.
Esther even went as far as to say her response was "Hallelujah" when she first heard the couple were separating, and that she "hopes [Kris] changes her name back to Kardashian [because] I don't want her to carry the name."
As for when the hatred towards her former daughter-in-law started, Esther said it began after they were married in 1991. "Kris never cooked [while Kendall and Kylie Jenner were growing up], she was always running out to eat with her girlfriends and she left Bruce to take care of the two babies and he did. The only one I ever saw change the diapers was Bruce [too], I never saw Kris do it," she said. "Kris hasn't bothered to bring up Kendall and Kylie, but Bruce has brought them up, thank God."
While not bashing Kris, Esther addressed the rumors that Bruce is transitioning into a woman. "I love him, no matter what," she said when asked about his appearance. "I've brought this up to him on the phone when we've talked and he says, 'Mom, you can't believe this stuff.' And I said, 'Well, I want to tell you one thing, Bruce…[if] it's true or false, it's not going to change my love for you,' and it's true, that's exactly how I feel, but I don't like it," she admitted. "I hate his hair [too], I tell him it's ugly. That it's ridiculous. I told him on the phone the other day, 'You know Bruce, you just turned 65 and you're wearing your hair like you're a teenage rebel' and he laughed, just cracked up. He doesn't pay any attention to me. He's always been single-minded and independent."
Despite her hatred towards Kris, Esther is still grandma to Kris' two daughters with Bruce, Kendall and Kylie Jenner.
"Kylie's 17, she's going through a little teenage stage trying to assert her independence but that'll pass," she said. "Kendall is a different personality than Kylie. Kendall is kind of a reserved, quieter personality while Kylie is effervescent and bubbly. And Kendall is going about her career very calmly, and has started a heck of a career in modeling, she's doing really well."
Esther's harsh words, however, will likely not come as a surprise to Kris, who during an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians admitted that she knows Esther "can't stand" her.
